Florida Grade 7 Standards & HoffyEd Activities

Every current Florida Grade 7 academic standard — B.E.S.T. Mathematics (MA.7), B.E.S.T. ELA (ELA.7), Science (SC.7), and Social Studies (SS.7) — matched against the activities live on learn.hoffyed.com.

Standards are listed at the standard level (e.g. MA.7.NSO.1) with the benchmark range noted underneath, so every standard appears here even where HoffyEd doesn't yet have a matching activity.

Dashed chips mark a partial match — the activity touches the standard but doesn't cover it end to end. Only individual lesson pages are linked; subject and sub-topic hub pages are left out since they don't carry content of their own.

Mathematics — MA.7

All 10 Grade 7 standards across Number Sense & Operations (NSO), Algebraic Reasoning (AR), Geometric Reasoning (GR), and Data Analysis & Probability (DP). This is the grade where two-step equations, inequalities, and circles first appear.

StandardWhat it coversHoffyEd activities
MA.7.NSO.1 Rewrite numbers in equivalent forms.Applying the Laws of Exponents, and rewriting rational numbers as fractions, mixed numbers, repeating decimals, or percentages.
MA.7.NSO.2 Add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers.Multi-step order of operations with grouping symbols, exponents, and absolute value; procedural fluency with all four operations on rational numbers.
MA.7.AR.1 Rewrite algebraic expressions in equivalent forms.Adding and subtracting linear expressions with rational coefficients, and determining whether two linear expressions are equivalent.
MA.7.AR.2 Write and solve equations and inequalities in one variable.Writing and solving two-step equations, and one-step inequalities, with rational number coefficients — solutions represented algebraically or graphically.
MA.7.AR.3 Use percentages and proportional reasoning to solve problems.Multi-step real-world percent problems, proportion problems, and unit conversions across different measurement systems. No HoffyEd activity yet
MA.7.AR.4 Analyze and represent two-variable proportional relationships.Determining whether a relationship is proportional, finding the constant of proportionality, and graphing/translating between tables, equations, and written descriptions. No HoffyEd activity yet
MA.7.GR.1 Solve problems involving two-dimensional figures, including circles.Area of polygons and composite figures, the relationship between circumference and diameter, the area formula for circles, and scale drawings.
MA.7.GR.2 Solve problems involving three-dimensional figures, including right circular cylinders.Finding the volume and surface area of right circular cylinders. No HoffyEd activity yet
MA.7.DP.1 Represent and interpret numerical and categorical data.Comparing populations using measures of center and variability, and using proportional reasoning with data from a random sample. No HoffyEd activity yet
MA.7.DP.2 Develop an understanding of probability; find and compare experimental and theoretical probabilities.Determining a sample space, interpreting and comparing the likelihood of chance events, and comparing experimental to theoretical probability through simulation.

English Language Arts — ELA.7

All 8 Grade 7 standards across Reading (R), Communication (C), and Vocabulary (V).

StandardWhat it coversHoffyEd activities
ELA.7.R.1 Reading Prose and Poetry.Analyzing how an author develops and contrasts characters' perspectives, comparing how two authors treat a similar theme, and analyzing the impact of word choice and structure in a poem. No HoffyEd activity yet
ELA.7.R.2 Reading Informational Text.Analyzing the interaction between individuals, events, and ideas in a text, evaluating text structure, and analyzing an author's argument, including any logical fallacies. No HoffyEd activity yet
ELA.7.R.3 Reading Across Genres.Analyzing how authors from different genres or perspectives shape an audience's understanding of a similar topic.
ELA.7.C.1 Communicating Through Writing: Narrative Writing.Writing a narrative that develops a clear point of view, uses precise language, and controls pacing. No HoffyEd activity yet
ELA.7.C.2 Communicating Through Writing: Argumentative/Informative Writing.Constructing an argument or explanation with credible evidence, addressing counterclaims, and using a formal style appropriate to the task. No HoffyEd activity yet

Science — SC.7

All 7 Grade 7 standards across Nature of Science (N), Earth & Space Science (E), Physical Science (P), and Life Science (L). Grade 7 is Florida's Life Science-heavy middle school year — heredity, evolution, and ecology.

StandardWhat it coversHoffyEd activities
SC.7.N.1 The Practice of Science.Defining problems, distinguishing experiments from other investigations, and explaining that not all scientific knowledge comes from experimentation. No HoffyEd activity yet
SC.7.E.6 Earth Structures. The theory of plate tectonics and how crustal-plate movement causes earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and mountain building; the impact humans have had on Earth. No HoffyEd activity yet
SC.7.P.10 Forms of Energy.Recognizing that light waves, sound waves, and other waves move at different speeds through different materials.
SC.7.P.11 Energy Transfer and Transformations. How adding or removing heat can cause a temperature change or change of state, that energy transforms from one form to another without being created or destroyed, and the ways heat moves.
SC.7.L.15 Diversity and Evolution of Living Organisms.Recognizing that fossil evidence is consistent with the theory of evolution, and how genetic variation and environmental factors contribute to natural selection. No HoffyEd activity yet
